"Some people were convinced our Howard impersonator, Bartholomew Rose, was the real thing .. He has the walk, talk and mannerisms absolutely down pat.

Bartholomew Rose is the 2nd most important man in the Prime Minister's office. Even Senator (Wild)Bill Heffernan was seen conferring with the mimic for over 20 minutes at the secret exit of the Wentworth Hotel during the last election campaign. Mr. Rose's speeches are artfully crafted political wedges in their own right. After the Danish cartoon scandal last year Rose was invited to Penrith Regional Gallery to open artist Adam Cullen's drawing exhibition. Rose

had most of the audience in a sort of rhetorical confusion with minutes. They were putty in his hands.. He has been engaged to open art exhibitions, launch union campaigns and rallies, speak at technology conferences and industry dinners. His sometimes uninvited presence during events and functions has so rattled the confidence of both Liberal and Labor Party stalwarts that they have strayed from their scheduled agendas.

Howard vs Rose was a strange configuration at a PM meets the Chinese Business Community event in Parramatta during the last election. Howard, a veteran campaigner, apparently stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Rose(his mirror image) brilliantly self-choreographing a meet-n-great at the other end of the function. During this election, keep your eyes closely focused on the Prime Ministerial eyebrows and see if you can tell the difference.
